Class routines
Children have to enjoy participating in a story, enjoy listen to each other in a group situation, participate in class routines in a quiet, controlled manner or realize the importance of switching off lights, turning off taps, flushing the toilet, putting paper in the bin…
As I said, enjoy listen to a story is important in the early stages. But how can we work a story with the little ones?
First, we have to choose a good story to work some of these objetives: "The monk and the fish”
One way to work this story:
1
- At the begin of the video, the teacher can talk with the children about the activity, and before they see the video, the teacher have to reproduce the music or melody of the Monk and the Fish to see what things comes to the children mind, what ideas or feelings…Then the children have to write in a sheet about in where they think is setting the video and when (in the morning, afternoon, evening, night)
- This activity is obviously to the children make an idea about what they are going to see later.
- After that, the teacher have to show them the first part of the story only, to see how correct they are in their predictions. Then, children have to represents the main character (by groups) in one scene of the story, using the drama arts and skills to try to understand why the Monk is acting of that form, what he feel and talk about the Monk and the fish’s relationship.
- Activities to do with the children:
1- Activity one: Play with pictures to tell the story
2- Activity: Complete the squares about the story -Working sentence level
3- Activity: Make diagrams to help childrens understand the story and make associations of events: how, what, how, when, why, where...

- To help children learn new vocabulary: Work word level
